What Should You Never Say To Your Mother?

April 30 — But If You Do, Tell Her Right Away That You’re Sorry

Today’s passage:
“Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet
sheds on the heel that has crushed it.

—Mark Twain

Today’s prayer:
“When I am wronged, Father, and there is not even
a glimmer of repentance, may I still find the words
“I forgive you,” in my heart and on my lips.”

Are You Having A ‘Bloomy’ Day?

April 29 — A Small Change Of One Letter Can Make A Big Change In Our Mood

Today’s passage:
“When I bought my farm, I did not know what a
bargain I had in the bluebirds, bobolinks and
thrushes; as little did I know what sublime
mornings and sunsets I was buying.

—Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today’s prayer:
“Thank You, Lord, for the pluses hidden in little minuses.”

Are You Going ‘Downhill’?

April 28 — If So, Don’t View It As A Bad Thing

Today’s passage:
“I the Lord . . . will hold thine hand, and will keep thee . . .
(Isaiah 42:6)

Together Still
by Peggy Cameron King

Let me hold your hand as we go downhill,
We’ve shared our strength and we share it still.
It hasn’t been easy to make the climb,
But the way was eased by your hand in mine.

Like the lake, our life has had ripples too,
Ill-health, and worries, and payments due,
With happy pauses along the way,
A graduation, a raise in pay.

At the foot of the slope, we will  stop and rest,
Look back, it you wish; we’ve been truly blessed.
We’ve been spared the grief of being torn apart,
By death, or divorce, or a broken heart.

The view ahead is one of the best,
Just a little farther, and then we can rest.
We move more slowly, but together still,
Let me hold your hand as
                                                     we go
                                                            downhill …

Today’s prayer:
“It’s reassuring, Lord, how each year I feel closer to you.”

Do You Have An Alms Purse?

April 26 — If So, Open It Wide With Giving—If Not… Get One

Today’s passage:
“The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers and these flowers  are every little sacrifice, every glance and word, and the doing of the least of actions for love.
—St. Therese if Lisieux

Today’s prayer:
“Dear Father, let generosity become
a habit with me, not an effort.”
